The City of Manitowoc is reminding residents to be Salt Wise.
The city as way while residents rely on salt to keep roads and sidewalks safe in the winter, it has degrading effects on lakes, streams, and drinking water.
To try and limit the salt levels in the environment, the city is giving out free Salt Wise cups.
lThe cups contain the right amount of salt that should be used to treat about ten squares of sidewalk for most conditions.
