A teen from Menasha has pleaded not guilty to all charges related to a string of thefts from vehicles last year.
18-year-old Tristan Backus was present in court on Friday (January 17th) in Calumet County for his initial appearance.
Backus has pled not guilty to all 19 charges he’s facing, including 11 counts of Theft-Movable Property Less than or Equal to $2,500, Burglary, and four additional felonies.
The 18-year-old was handed these charges in December after he was deemed a suspect and later arrested in relation to numerous thefts from vehicles that were reported in the Village of Harrison.
The thefts and vehicle entries occurred on the north shore of Lake Winnebago near the Firelane area.
Deputies with the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office noted that most of the vehicles Backus entered were left unlocked, as is the case with most theft from vehicle cases.
Backus will be back in court on February 12th for a plea and sentencing hearing.
