The Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) was the recent recipient of a large donation.
The Black Spring Foundation has made a $466,00 donation to the SASD for the Lexia Reading Intervention program, the Lakeland University Dual-Enrollment Program, and the introduction of new specialized programming for students with special needs.
The nearly half-a-million-dollar donation will also help fund Lakeland University’s Concurrent Academic Progress Program, which allows students to take college courses simultaneously with their high school classes, free of charge.
This program was used by nearly 900 students last year, accumulating 5,000 credits worth over $2 million.
On the donation, Dr. Jacob Konrath, Superintendent of the SASD, said, “These initiatives will provide students with tools and opportunities to succeed academically, whether through literacy intervention, free access to college-level courses, or specialized programs for those with special needs.”
