A northeast Wisconsin organization will get a share of some money through a state and federal program.
The Wisconsin DATCP is partnering with the USDA to award money through the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program.
The program helps build resilience in the food supply chain and provides more and better markets for small farms and food businesses.
Seasonal Harvest in De Pere will get a share to strengthen its food aggregation hub by upgrading inventory management software, purchasing its first two delivery vehicles, and constructing a shared wash/pack facility.
These upgrades will alleviate some logistical challenges of aggregating products from an increasing number of tiny farms, some of which have no access to potable water or clean packing space.
It also helps Seasonal Harvest continue to get food for underserved farms to serve their growing community of customers.
Five other groups throughout Wisconsin will also share some of the Resilient Food Infrastructure Program.
