A man lost his life after falling through the ice in Marquette County.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Lawrence Lake around 10:00 a.m. yesterday (January 6th) after reports that a fisherman had fallen into the water.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office stated that the man was driving a UTV on the lake when the ice broke beneath him.
Despite efforts to rescue him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are withholding his identity pending family notification and are advising Wisconsin residents to avoid venturing onto frozen lakes and rivers until the ice has been verified to be thick enough for safety.
