A new year brings with it skyrocketing gas prices in Eastern Wisconsin.
According to the AAA Gas Prices webpage, Manitowoc County motorists are paying nine cents more at the pump compared to last week, with an average of $2.86 per gallon.
Sheboygan County meanwhile saw an eleven-cent jump to $2.88, while Calumet County reported the biggest change of the week, a 19-cent boom to $2.93.
Brown County isn’t far behind, with the $2.91 average there 18 cents more than last week, while Kewaunee County is up 16 cents to $2.93, tying them with Calumet County for the most expensive fuel in the area.
Outagamie County reported a nine-cent jump to $2.89, while Door County only saw a mild two-cent bump to $2.89 per gallon.
The state average also rose significantly, jumping nine cents to $2.88, while the national average swelled two cents to $3.06.
While gas prices seem to be rather high, the average for the entirety of 2024 is actually lower than the past two years.
In 2023, the average price for the year in Manitowoc was $3.26, and in 2022 the average was $3.70.
