The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is already ready for their first Think and Drink event of 2025.
It takes place tomorrow (January 2nd) at the museum with doors opening at 6:00 pm with the event getting underway at 6:30 p.m.
Communications Coordinator Emily Shedal explained on the WCUB Breakfast Club that the first Think and Drink of the year is about the “History of Iceboating.”
Deb Whitehorse and Mike Peters will give the history of Wisconsinites enjoying lake life even with frigid temperatures and frozen lakes.
Shedal also says there is a temporary exhibit about ice boats.
“It features historic artifacts from the museum’s collection,” she explained. “Including pieces of a historic ice boat, scale model, and a full-size ice sleigh that was built right here in Wisconsin.”
The boats look like they have the body of sleigh but also have a sail that can be used to skate across the ice.
Shedal says this year’s themes for other upcoming Think and Drinks also involve ice.
“I believe our February one is about Antarctica,” she said. “And as we get later into the year, I think there’s one too on the Ice Bowl.”
