A senior living community in the area is discouraging visits as they deal with a Norovirus outbreak.
St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna is currently experiencing a widespread outbreak of Acute Gastroenteritis, better known as Norovirus or the stomach flu.
While they are not currently restricting visitation, it is highly discouraged as they do everything in their power to mitigate the spread of the extremely contagious stomach bug.
Both senior living residents and staff have been impacted by the outbreak at the facility.
Officials say the best defense against Norovirus is to regularly and thoroughly wash your hands as hand sanitizer is not effective against the virus.
Those who do choose to visit at this time are required to wear face masks and will also be required to regularly wash their hands while on the premises.
More information on Norovirus, symptoms, and treatment can be found online at cdc.gov/norovirus.
