Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a series of mailbox fires in Barron County, with potential federal charges on the table.
The suspects, a 17-year-old Webster and a 15-year-old from Minnesota, were taken into custody the day after Christmas following reports that six mailboxes had been set on fire or destroyed.
The Barron County District Attorney is considering arson charges, while investigators are collaborating with the U.S. Postal Service to determine if federal charges are warranted.
Authorities are also investigating similar incidents in Washburn and neighboring counties.
