A known violent felon in Fond du Lac spent his Christmas fleeing from police.
The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call yesterday (December 25th) around 8:30 a.m. reporting that the suspect physically abused a female victim, threatened her life, and stole her handgun.
The suspect, a 36-year-old man, is a convicted felon with a violent history known to carry weapons and was wanted for felony probation and domestic abuse warrants.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. an officer with the Fond du Lac Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle on Washington Street and attempted to pull him over, however the suspect fled toward the victim’s residence.
The brief police chase ended quickly as the fleeing vehicle crashed into two civilian cars at the intersection of East Arndt Street and North Park Avenue.
The 36-year-old then fled on foot before being apprehended in the backyard of a home in the 200 block of East Follett Street.
Three civilians involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital to treat serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim’s handgun was found in the vehicle, and the suspect is facing numerous criminal charges in addition to the felony warrants already issued to him.
