Wisconsin has confirmed its first human case of the bird flu.
The state’s Department of Health Services announced on Friday (December 20th) that the CDC had verified a man employed at a poultry farm in Barron County had contracted the virus.
Although initially suspected of having the illness, the confirmation from the CDC makes the case official.
The individual is the first in Wisconsin to test positive for the bird flu, and there are no signs that the virus has spread further.
