The former leader of the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit had his first day in court yesterday (December 12th).
Dave Remiker appeared by phone for his initial appearance, which was presided over by Waushara County Judge Guy Detcher.
Remiker is being represented by Attorney Brett Kaehne, who waived the reading of the criminal complaint and requested a preliminary hearing.
Remiker’s bond was set at $1,000 recognizance on a charge of Misconduct in Office, Failure to Perform a Known Duty.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office previously told SeehaferNews.com that an internal audit was conducted in February of this year, which “revealed that several thousand dollars of asset forfeiture funds were not properly deposited into designated accounts.”
Once the audit was conducted, the Sheriff’s Office requested the Wisconsin Department of Justice to take over the investigation.
Remiker’s preliminary hearing was scheduled for December 30th in Room 212 in the Manitowoc County Courthouse.
