The Town of Newton is still trying to be transparent as the town board is looking to build a new fire station.
The town will hold a mid-morning meeting to tell the public why the new fire station is needed on January 18th at 10:00 am.
The public will be able to hear frequently asked questions as well as ask their questions about the proposed station.
According to the town of Newton, the current fire station was built in 1963 and is facing several significant challenges, such as a space to store some equipment because the fire trucks take up most of the room now.
During a conversation with Seehafernews.com, Kelly Christiansen, one of the town board members, told us that they have to store some equipment away from the fire station because of the lack of space, although it’s not critical equipment.
Some key goals include longevity so a new station can be around for fifty years, safety and health, and eliminating the off-storage site.
Christiansen tells SeehaferNews.com that there is a rough estimate of the project’s cost, but no action has been taken on the new station yet.
