Alice in Dairyland is continuing to promote buying Wisconsin-made products this holiday season.
Halei Heinzel, an Oconomowoc native, was on the WCUB Breakfast Club to promote the Something Special from Wisconsin Program, which she says featured hundreds of Wisconsin-based businesses.
She specifically promoted Heartland Craft Grains out of Lodi.
“Rochelle and Evan Schnadt grow unique greens on their family farm and farmstead mill,” Heinzel explained. “Their farm practices focus on creating healthier soil, in turn, growing nutria, dense, flavorful greens to be enjoyed in the kitchen with family and friends.”
She also suggested taking a look at Hi-Ho Soda, which is made locally Sheboygan County.
“Hi Ho Soda is a revived craft soda company originally owned by a World War II veteran and is now owned by an Iraq War veteran,” Heinzel noted. “They exclusively use Midwest-produced ingredients and materials to make their sodas. The honeys from Germantown. The Cranberries are from Pennsville. The cans are from Milwaukee. And the heart of the business is still employment in Wisconsin, just like it originally was.”
