O.H. Schultz Elementary School in Mishicot welcomed veterans from all branches and time frames into the gym for a Veterans Day assembly.
The students gathered to learn more about Veterans Day and to give their thanks to those who served.
Brayden Kuba was one of 15 fifth grade students to read an essay for those in attendance, and he told SeehaferNews.com that Veterans Day means a lot to him personally as his grandfather and stepdad both served.
He also told us “We went on a field trip to Madison and went to a veteran’s museum.”

The rest of the fifth-grade class held a flag-folding ceremony, with some folding the flag donated by the Zeeman family and others reading what each fold means.
Mishicot Elementary also raised $1,442 for Old Glory Honor Flight through a raffle for several prizes, including a painted saw blade created by 3rd grade teacher Rodger Booth.
Michael Kocereck was drawn as the grand prize winner.
The ceremony ended with a musical tribute to all of the branches of the military and a singing of one of the most popular patriotic songs ever written, “God Bless the USA.”
Monroe Elementary in Manitowoc is also honoring veterans with an event they are calling the Honor Walk Parade.
Veterans will walk the halls of the school located at 2502 South 14th Street at 3:00 this afternoon.
