Manitowoc County will be hosting tours and doing its part to recognize America Recycles Day later this week.
America Recycles Day will be on Friday (November 15th) and is a nationally recognized day to build awareness of recycling and its benefits.
Along with reemphasizing the importance of recycling, Manitowoc County will be holding tours of the county Recycling Center on the 14th and 15th, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The tour will be approximately one hour, and registration is required.
The county has been proactive in its approach to recycling, including the reduction of landfill waste from 58,000 tons in the 1990s to 32,000 tons per year currently.
Additionally in 2023, 4.4 million pounds of paper and cardboard were recycled at the Manitowoc County Recycling Center, however, they have noted that there is always room to improve.
To register for a tour of the recycling center, call 920-683-4333.
