The bats were loaded yesterday for the 16U Manitowoc American Legion baseball team, as they swept a doubleheader against Shawano at Municipal Field.
Post 88 started the day strong, platting 4 runs in the first two innings of the day, and held on for a 7-4 win in the opener.
Drew Staudt earned the win in game one, going 5 innings while allowing 4 hits and as many runs while also striking out 7 batters.
In game two, the defense was strong, as Jake Hillmer allowed just 1 hit in a 15-0 victory.
Post 88 held a 5-0 lead entering the 3rd inning when they exploded for 8 more runs and tacked on a pair in the 4th for good measure.
Hilmer helped his own cause, knocking in three runs in the win. Up next for the 16U squad is a road game Saturday in Oshkosh.
The 17U and 19U teams are slated to host the Appleton Doubledays today with the younger squad going at 5:00 p.m. and the 19U teams playing at 7:30 p.m.
