Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) welcomes a new arrival to the peregrine falcon nest box at its Weston Power Plant.
The first of two peregrine falcon eggs at the plant hatched this afternoon, becoming the ninth chick to be born at WPS and We Energies facilities this nesting season.
Proud peregrine parents Sheldon and an unbanded female falcon are watching over the new chick inside the nest box.
This is Sheldon’s ninth year nesting at the Weston Power Plant, and the first for the unbanded female falcon.
The remaining egg is set to hatch at any moment.
Tune into the Weston Power Plant’s live nest box camera to catch the final chick of the 2024 nesting season as it hatches.
Falcon fans can also watch seven additional falcon chicks as they continue to grow and prepare to fly for the first time at We Energies power plants.
