Eight people are vying for the open city of Manitowoc District 1 seat that became vacant last month.
The eight people include Todd Lotz, Andrew Nichols, Andy Janicki, Raymond Geigel, Andrew Dunbar, Dennis Schnieder, Chris Engelbrecht, and Brett Vanderkin.
Vanderkin resigned during May’s common council meeting because records showed he had changed his address.
State law requires someone on a district-based city council to live in the district they represent, which is the case in Manitowoc.
If they don’t, it automatically disqualifies that person.
The Manitowoc Common Council will review the applications at tonight’s (June 17th) Committee of the Whole and regular council meeting.
It’s not known whether a new alderperson will be picked during the meetings.
