A one-mile-long road project is being worked on between the city of Manitowoc and Manitowoc County.
Construction equipment and cones have been set up on Viebahn Street between 26th Street and County Trunk LS, which is about a mile and a half of work.
Manitowoc City Engineer Greg Minikel says while the county is working on the street itself, the city must do the rest.
“That means that we are responsible for, like, the storm sewer,” he described. “So, there’s a few storm inlets that we are replacing. And then fully replacing the defective curb. I think we’re replacing 500 or 600 feet of selected curb or gutter in there.”
Manitowoc County Highway Director Greg Grotegut says the full project should be completed by the end of August.
Their work includes putting asphalt down and fixing other parts of the road.
Both directors say there are many road projects still being worked on and should be finished by the end of the year.
