The Red Birds will be taking on Sun Prairie East in the championship game today after the Cardinals exploded for 11 runs against Oak Creek.
Drew Kavanaugh, Isaac Wendler, and Van Vogler all drove in two runs apiece, while Max Glusick had a 3-hit day for Sun Prairie East.
The Red Birds and Cardinals will take to Neuroscience Group Field in the tournament’s final game at 6:00 tonight (June 13th).
Meanwhile, in yesterday’s Division 2 semifinals, #1 seeded Mosinee had little trouble getting by #4 La Crosse Logan.
The Indians rode a 4 RBI performance from Benjamin Schlei to pick up an 8-1 win.
Garrett Shupe had a great day on the mound, striking out 9 batters over his five and two-thirds innings, and Zachery Nechuta closed out the game without allowing a single baserunner.
The Indians will be facing #3 Edgewood for the title after the Crusaders snuck by Kettle Moraine Lutheran 4-3.
Edgewood took a 1 run lead in the 2nd inning, added a second run in the 3rd, and the teams would trade off runs through the rest of the game.
Bennett Cagle accounted for 2 of Edgewood’s runs on a day where hits were at a premium.
The Division 2 championship game is scheduled for 3:00 this afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium.
Starting out the day will be the Division 4 title game between #3 Solon Springs/Northwood and #1 Eleva-Strum, both of which are playing in their schools’ first ever state tournament.
First pitch is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
Then at noon, #1 Aquinas will try to secure back to back Division 3 championships as they take on Kenosha St. Joseph.
