The Kiel girls soccer team continued their reign of domination over the weekend, taking down Lourdes Academy/Valey Christian of Oshkosh 6-0 to earn their 3rd consecutive Sectional Title.
Coach Mike Pritchard tells us that Lydia Vander-Meer, his team’s captain and the EWC Player of the Year, started off the onslaught Saturday (June 8th) and scored a second goal with an assist from her sister, Ella Vander-Meer.
Addison Vogel also netted a pair, hers coming back-to-back, while Maddie McDole and Taavi Saeger added the other two goals.
Pritchard also praised his defense, specifically fellow captain Elisheba Sippel, who dominated the back line and allowed only 10 shots on Daniel Mueller, who made 5 saves on the day.
With the win, the Raiders were able to continue their push towards a second consecutive state title, but they will have to go through
The Prairie School to do it. Kiel enters their Thursday matchup as the #2 seed, while The Prairie School is the #3 seed.
Also earning a trip to state was Plymouth, who knocked off #2 Notre Dame 2-1 and earned the #1 seed in Division 3.
They will be taking on the red-hot Rice Lake Warriors, who earned the #4 seed and outscored their opponents 20-2 throughout the postseason.
The Panthers are no slouches themselves, outscoring their opponents 32-1.
The Division 3 and 4 semifinals will be held an Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee Thursday, with Division 1 and 2 starting their state tournament on Friday.
