It’s going to take some more time before a new homeless shelter in Manitowoc will be discussed.
The Manitowoc Plan Commission meeting scheduled for last night was canceled.
On the agenda was a discussion about 11 letters to the council in support of or against the new shelter being in the former McKinley School building on 10th and Huron Streets.
Seehafer News spoke with City Attorney Eric Nycz (NITCH) who said the commission needs some more time before discussions happen again.
McKinley school would be converted into a new warming and homeless shelter.
The project would include more beds plus showers and on-site laundry.
The project is a collaboration between the Manitowoc Warming Shelter, The Haven Men’s Homeless Shelter, and Hope House.
