A bill to rename Kiel’s U.S. Post Office has passed the United States House of Representatives.
The bill created by eastern Wisconsin Congressman Glenn Grothman would change the name of the Fremont Street Post Office the “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building.”
Casper, a Kiel native, became the youngest police officer killed in the line of duty in Wisconsin history after he tried to stop a bank robber and murder suspect before he was shot and eventually passed away.
Grothman says he’s “thrilled this bill has passed the House. Now, I urge the Senate leadership to swiftly take up this bipartisan legislation, ensuring that we honor and commemorate the remarkable life and legacy of Trooper Casper.”
Trevor was a staple in the Kiel community through wrestling, soccer, and coaching youth sports.
After graduating from Kiel High School with the class of 2011, Trevor attended Lakeshore Technical College and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2014.
He was active in the Color Guard and held the position of President of the college’s student government.
He then became a Wisconsin State Patrolman at the Fond du Lac station.
