A man is facing charges after allegedly leading Manitowoc Police on a chase.
Manitowoc Police tried to pull a vehicle over Saturday morning (June 1st) around 2:20 am after checking the 24-year-old’s license plate on his car and finding out he had a revoked driver’s license.
When the officer turned on his lights, the vehicle drove away quickly on North 9th and Buffalo Streets before the officer activated his siren.
The vehicle eventually pulled over in a parking lot between North 8th and Buffalo Streets.
When the suspect rolled down the window, a strong smell of intoxicants came from the car.
He was then told to step out of the car and was placed under arrest.
Police talked to the female passenger who said they got in an argument after he demanded she get into the vehicle when she was walking home from a bar.
When asked why the man didn’t stop when the officer’s lights came on, she said he didn’t say anything and continued to drive.
The suspect was later asked what happened, and he said the same thing the woman said about the argument and stated he only had two shots of alcohol, even though the officer didn’t agree.
The man now faces charges of fleeing and eluding an officer and a 2nd OWI.
