A special designation has been officially given to the City of Manitowoc.
An announcement from Briess Malt and Ingredients says Manitowoc has been officially designated as Specialty Malt Capital of the World.
Briess says since acquiring the malt facility downtown in 2014, they’ve made significant investments to transform it to world-class standards.
Marketing Director Ron Schroder says Briess now has the largest product line of any malting company in the world, and its products are used in all 50 states and more than 25 countries around the world.
To celebrate Manitowoc’s designation, the public is invited to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum on June 25th at 3:30 pm for a proclamation read by Mayor Justin Nickels and comments from CEO Craig Briess.
Samples will also be served from all three craft breweries in Manitowoc, including PetSkull, Sabbatical, and Craft Creek breweries.
Museum admission will also be free for all those who attend.
