A grand reopening takes place for a Two Rivers historical staple this weekend.
Two Rivers Historical Director Tootsie Sommers said on the WCUB Breakfast Club that there’s a lot planned after the Washington House was closed for the winter for renovations.
That’s why society is calling it a grand reopening because of significant changes to two rooms in the house.
“And it was really the result of some great volunteers assisting, along with the significant donors,” she tells Seehafer News.
The reopening includes live music, character drawings, and a new scavenger hunt which was first done during Cool City Christmas.
“A wonderful family event,” she calls it. “People took part in it, loved it. And people get a little token at the end.”
Adults will get a buy-one-get-one token from Cool City Brewery while kids get a different token.
Berner’s Ice Cream Parlor will also be open for business, serving new flavors and traditional ones like the Mackinac Island Fudge and the Carmel Collision.
The Ruby Sundae will also be sold for as long as the rhubarb sauce is around.
The reopening takes place this Sunday (May 26th) from Noon until 8:00 p.m.
The museum will be open all summer, Thursday through Monday.
