Four local Vietnam veterans are among twenty three from Wisconsin and 650 from around the U.S. that will be honored by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
The organization released the list of inductees in their In Memory Program, which honors Vietnam veterans who survived their tour and have passed away since returning home.
Added this year are Army veterans Brice Edward Wagner of Valders, who passed away in April 2010; James August Wilsmann of Two Rivers, who passed away this past August; and Jay W. Hager of Sheboygan, who passed away in December of 2022.
Also being added to the memorial is Navy veteran Wayne Lee Shaffer of Plymouth, who passed away in February 2019.
VVMF has created a personal remembrance page for each honoree online in the In Memory Honor Roll at VVMF.org/Honor-Roll.
Their photos will also be displayed around the country when VVMF’s mobile exhibit, The Wall That Heals, is on display in an honoree’s home state.
The Wall, which previously made a stop in Manitowoc, will next be traveling from West Dundee, Illinois, to Hartland, Wisconsin, and will be viewable starting May 30th.
