Fishermen can learn about current and future rules for lake whitefish in Lake Michigan.
The Lake Michigan Fisheries Forum will meet at Lakeshore Technical College in the village of Cleveland on Wednesday, May 29th at 6 pm in the Lake Michigan room.
The public will learn about the Wisconsin DNR’s onboard camera monitoring efforts over the past four years while also getting to discuss and comment on the current rules and proposed changes being considered for the 2026 fishing season.
Current rules allow commercial fishers to harvest lake whitefish by trawling in designated areas of Lake Michigan if they have an onboard camera system.
The agenda for the meeting can be found on the Lake Michigan Fisheries Forum webpage.
The forum helps raise awareness of Lake Michigan fisheries issues and provides an opportunity to discuss and give feedback on different topics.
