A recent report indicates Wisconsin is one of eleven states where childcare expenses can be more than double the cost of rent.
Data from Child Care Aware of America shows that the average annual cost for center-based daycare for two children in Wisconsin is nearly $25,000, compared to just over $19,000 for housing.
For a median-income couple earning about $121,000 per year, placing an infant in a care center costs over 11% of their income.
For a single parent earning a median income of $37,000, this expense rises to more than 36% of their pay.
