Baseball and softball players, as well as those who just want to swing a bat, now have a place to practice.
The Cage Manitowoc officially opened their doors on Monday at 2214 Franklin Street. Owners John Ceaglske and Trent Nelson were on the On The Line Podcast last month, where Ceaglske explained what they offer that makes them different from your average batting cage.
“We have Z screens in there, we have two shorter lanes which contain the pitching machines, and then we have a full lane that accommodates high school pitching,” he explained. “Our tagline is ‘Swing Hard, Swing Smart.’ The swing smart part comes from the technology we invested in. We partnered with a company called HitTrax.”
He also noted that for the longest time, batting cages were geared toward baseball, with overhand throwing machines.
However, The Cage aims to cater to everybody.
“Most batting cages cater just to boys,” Ceaglske said. “But, you can’t let the females get lost in the shuffle. The technology is there right now to cater to both.”
Those who would like a tour of the facility can do so over the next two weekends.
The crew at The Cage will give tours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday both weekends, and are currently selling memberships.
You can learn more about The Cage by listening to the full podcast on the Seehafer Podcast website, or by going to their Facebook page.
