The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin recently approved an application from Alliant Energy to make improvements at the Sheboygan Falls and Neenah’s gas generating stations.
The project includes an advanced gas path upgrade of the turbines at both facilities. By performing upgrades, Alliant says the plants can expand the unit’s capacity, gain greater fuel efficiency, lower operating costs, and increase the operating life of the facilities.
The energy company expects to start construction in August 2025 on one project at each site.
Upon completion, work on the second project at each site will begin, likely in mid-October 2025. Both projects will take about eight weeks to complete.
The upgrades will increase capacity at both sites from 300 to 450 megawatts.
