Harley Alcala, who threatened to shoot up the Chippewa County courthouse, has been committed to the state mental hospital.
Court records indicate the 40-year-old was committed following his arrest last May, which stemmed from a custody dispute involving his daughter.
Police confirmed Alcala was unarmed at the time of his arrest.
He is scheduled to return to court in July.
