Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is requesting a meeting with the Secret Service regarding security plans for the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
In a letter sent last week, McConnell expressed concerns that the current security perimeter could lead to avoidable conflicts, particularly with protesters potentially threatening attendees.
RNC planners have raised alarms about the proximity of Milwaukee’s designated protest zone to the Deer District, the convention site, advocating for its relocation from Pere Marquette Park.
The Secret Service has responded, stating confidence in their existing security arrangements.
