
The Kiel softball team ran into one of the hottest teams in the EWC last night and fell to New Holstein 11-2.
The Huskies have now won four of their last five games, and have been climbing the EWC standings.
They jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning, but Kiel didn’t back down.
The Raiders tallied a pair of runs in the 4th, but then New Holstein came to live, plating seven runs in the next two innings to secure the win.
Senior Paige Wilkens led the way for Kiel, going 2 for 3 at the plate while knocking in one of the Raiders’ runs. Liz Neils pitched the full six innings, striking out 3 batters along the way.
Kiel, now sitting at 8-7, has five games left on the regular season schedule, with their next two against Chilton, the 2nd place team in the conference.
