The man deemed responsible for a racially motivated killing at the Green Bay Correctional Institution may have been sentenced, but the hearing wasn’t without its drama.
FOX11 reports that Joshua Scolman was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of killing Timothy Nabors and injuring Lamonte Washington in 2022.
The first outburst came from Tim Nabors Sr., the victim’s father, who cussed at the judge, which made the judge leave the courtroom to recompose himself.
Then, Scolman was given a chance to speak. He admitted to not having any mental disease, saying the claim made in court was a part of the “games that lawyers play in court.”
He then proved he had no remorse for his actions, saying that black people are “not human beings.”
This caused another outburst from the victim’s relatives, and while deputies restored order, the judge again left the courtroom.
When he returned, the judge reiterated that Scolman would never be a free man, as he was sentenced to a lifetime in prison followed by 25 years for the attempted murder of Washington.
