The teenager who crashed her mother’s car, killing a fellow teen, has been sentenced.
17-year-old Sienna Pecore was ordered to spend nine years in prison, followed by six years of extended supervision by Judge John Zakowski after she pleaded guilty to charges of 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide and Recklessly Endangering Safety.
Pecore was 15 when she took her mother’s car without permission.
She was said to be driving at speeds of around 100 miles per hour when she crashed, killing 17-year-old Cruz Beltran in the process.
According to NBC26, Beltran’s mother addressed Pecore on the day of her sentencing, saying that she forgives Pecore because “I was a child once too, and I made stupid choices.”
Pecore has been given credit for 530 days served, meaning she will be released in 2031.
