Authorities in Washington County uncovered a connection to a child trafficking arrest in the Philippines stemming from an investigation initiated last summer.
Michael Westphal, previously apprehended for child pornography, faced allegations of attempting to purchase a two-year-old girl from individuals in the Philippines.
This international operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the rescue of six children.
Westphal, a former janitor at McLane Elementary School in West Bend for 18 years, remains in custody at the Washington County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond, maintaining his innocence regarding any misconduct at the school.
