
A 74-year-old Francis Creek man is facing charges after it was learned he sexually assaulted someone and tried to meet a minor for sex.
The Manitowoc County Sheriffs Office reports that they were informed in February that Michael Kornely had sexually assaulted an individual.
During the investigation, deputies uncovered evidence that Kornely had used computerized communication to try to meet a child for sex.
He has been charged with Second-Degree Sexual Assault, Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime, Attempted Second-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, and Exposing a Child to Harmful Materials.
His bail was set at $15,000 cash.
The Sheriff’s Office says the have reason to believe Kornely has engaged in similar behavior for “a substantial amount of time.”
