A street-sweeping parking ban in Manitowoc will be underway in about two weeks.
An announcement from the City Department of Public Infrastructure says it’s important to clean the streets to provide safe conditions for all modes of transportation and help keep our lakes and rivers clean because many storm sewers lead directly to waterbodies around Manitowoc.
To keep the streets clean, the parking ban is put in place for the street sweeping program.
The ban takes effect April 1st and stays in effect until September 30th.
Different sections of the city are done on specific days, and on those days, vehicles are not allowed to park on the street between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 a.m.
A map of the sections and their sweeping dates can be seen below.
Warning tickets will be issued starting Monday until Friday, March 29th.
The District Sweeping Map lets you know when the street sweepers will come through your neighborhood.
The department also reminds residents that it’s important to remember that sweeping grass clippings into the street is not only bad for our local lakes, creeks, and rivers, it is also a violation of city ordinance.
