Today is the first day of early voting for local elections.
While people in Wisconsin can decide who they want as their presidential candidate, although both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will have enough votes to secure their nominations, there are several contested races around Manitowoc County.
There will be races for the Board of Supervisors in the 3rd, 8th, 15th, 21st, 22nd and 25th districts.
In the city of Manitowoc, there will be contested aldermanic races for the 4th, 6th, 8th, and 9th districts.
5 candidates are running for three seats on the Two Rivers city council with Incumbent Jeff Dahlke trying to keep his seat.
Three seats are available in the village of Cleveland, with 5 candidates running to be village trustees.
Several school board races are taking place around the county as well. In Manitowoc, two seats are up for grabs with four candidates running, including Incumbent Stacey Soeldner and Kerry Trask.
The Howard Grove School District also has four people running with two seats up for election.
Four seats are up for election in the Kiel Area School District, with five candidates vying for one.
Finally, four candidates are running for three school board seats in the Sheboygan Area School District.
There are also some questions for Cato and Valders School District residents.
Cato is asking its residents if the town board should appoint a person to hold the town clerk/treasurer role.
The Valders School District is asking a referendum question to exceed its revenue limit by $1.3 million for several expenses like new teachers, technology upgrades, and supporting student behavioral needs.
