There is still always hope in trying to find Elijah Vue.
That was the message during an emotional vigil for the missing child held at Walsh Field in Two Rivers.
Several speakers talked to a large crowd gathered to show their support in finding Elijah who has now been missing for almost a month.
Paula Petri, who spoke first, talked about having faith and holding onto love in finding Vue while having people place their hands over their hearts and think about someone special in their life and use that energy to help find him.
Two Rivers Council President Adam Wachowski spoke about how well the community came together, saying, “When someone is in need, you don’t get someone to help, you get the whole community,” he stated. “That’s Two Rivers, that’s who we are, that’s what we represent, and that’s our right for one another.”
Manitowoc Mariners Semi-Pro Football Team President Marco Alfaro also gave a message of optimism to the crowd.
“Let’s remain positive,” he said. “If you can’t afford to donate, if you can’t afford to help, maybe you don’t know what to do. There is one thing that costs nothing, very little effort is to stay positive.”
After the gathering, Search Volunteer Jordan Dillon says the vigil was held because searches are winding down, and she wants people to continue searching for Elijah.
But seeing the crowd that gathered was good for her and Elijah’s Aunt Linda Vue.
“It was truly amazing, and it touched our hearts,” she exclaimed.
“We weren’t sure about the outcome and that’s how our searches are also, you don’t know who’s going to show up or who’s going to volunteer. “So, to see the outpouring tonight was truly amazing.”
Dillon also encouraged anyone to always keep an eye out for anything because any place could be somewhere to look.
There were also messages from Two Rivers Assistant Fire Chief Dave Krajinik, members of search parties, and Abundant Life Church Pastor Jeffery Roberts.
As always, anyone with information that could lead to Elijah’s discovery or the arrest of someone involved in the case can call the state tips line at 844-267-6648 or use the Crimestoppers P3 tips app.
