A new living facility for people with dementia is being planned in Sheboygan County.
The organization behind the initiative is called Dementia Innovations, and they plan to construct the facility in the Town of Wilson.
The leaders of the group that is planning the living facility are Chuck Betler, Mary Pitsch, and Michelle LeMahieu, and they say the facility will be called the LIVASU Village, which is short for “Living as Usual.”
The trio said in a news release that the LIVASU Village “will be a unique community within a community designed to create an enriching, nurturing, and supporting environment for people living with dementia.”
Plans are for 124 homes surrounding a village center, which will feature a restaurant, a theater, a chapel, a grocery, and an atrium area.
All of the amenities of the village will be open to the public, with the integration into the community and reduction of stigma being the ultimate goal.
Groundbreaking is being planned for either late this spring or early this summer, with the homeowners moving in the fall of 2025.
