Four of the 15 young people competing in the Boys and Girls Clubs Youth of the Year in Madison are from eastern Wisconsin.
The young leaders are getting $20,000 scholarships and are competing to represent 117,000 Wisconsin youth who use clubs every year and go on to compete at Midwest and National competitions.
One comes from the Sheboygan area, while others represent Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac.
The candidates will meet with six judges at Capitol Square for interviews and speeches that will be scored on youth leadership, public service, academic excellence, and contributions to the family.
Finalists will then speak from the Wisconsin Assembly Chambers tomorrow (March 12th), sharing three-minute inspiring stories about triumphs and thriving through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The competition finishes in an awards Gala at the Premier Park Hotel at 6:30 next week.
