Manitowoc’s Congressman in Washington wants President Biden to focus on some issues during tonight’s (February 7th) State of the Union Speech.
Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman of Glenbeulah says he wants Biden to do more at the border, calling it the greatest crisis.
“This entirely happened because of his (Bidens) actions,” he explained. “And he can undo it because of his actions. Congress stands ready to help him but he has to do something on his own. He could revert to the Remain in Mexico policy or just close the border you wouldn’t have a problem at all. I’d like to hear him say that we are not going to let any more unaccompanied minors, 12- and 13-year-olds coming here without their parents.”
He also says he would like to see Biden back off racial issues that he’s taken sides on.
“He always kind of make it personal saying the police are racist,”he said. “Maybe that we are now on to his forth State of the Union and he’s losing in the polls, he’ll be a little more conciliatory toward the police.”
An early copy of Biden’s address says he wants to focus on more bipartisan issues like fighting cancer and helping veterans.
Grothman says he’d be willing to work on it but the government is already spending millions of dollars on this issue.
The State of the Union will take place at 8 pm this evening during a Joint Session of Congress.
We’ll have a reaction from Cong. Grothman said he thought the address would be the next morning.
