Chippewa County Administrator Randy Scholz and Board Chair Dean Gullickson issued a joint statement outlining their loss of confidence in Sheriff Travis Hakes.
They cited concerns over his interactions with a female 911 dispatcher, statements regarding his external employment, skepticism from the county’s District Attorney regarding his credibility, and the impact on the department’s reputation.
Despite ongoing investigations and a recent no-confidence vote from the county board, Sheriff Hakes maintains that political adversaries are behind the scrutiny.
