A family in Appleton is completely intact, thanks to the swift actions of the Appleton Fire Department.
According to the Department, crews were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of East Pershing Street just before noon after a resident saw smoke in the home and heard the structure crackling.
The firefighters arrived to find smoke emanating from a side doorway and learned that everyone had escaped except for two family dogs.
The firefighters entered the residence, found the canines, and took down the blaze within 30 minutes.
All residents, including the dogs and firefighters, were uninjured.
While the cause is still under investigation, the fire did cause an estimated $70,000 in damage.
