Citizens all over Manitowoc County are joining in the search for 3-year-old Elijah Vue, including a contingent in Manitowoc.
Seehafer News spoke with Laurie Hamblen, who has taken the lead in organizing a search party in Manitowoc.
She tells us that she has been in contact with a woman with the Wounded Warriors Project to get some tips about conducting searches.
Those tips include remembering to stay hydrated and to bring snacks.
It was also suggested not to bring children or dogs along for a search, especially given the cooler temperatures we are experiencing today.
The reason is having only able-bodied adults on the search allows the party to move more swiftly and efficiently.
The group, which gathered at Washington Park in Manitowoc, is planning to search along the Mariners Trail, in the area of Lower Schuette Park, in Red Arrow Park, and Silver Creek Park, all the way out to Fisher Point.
Laurie specifically wanted to focus on lowlands and wetlands along with some more rugged terrain, but she also noted that she wanted to have some people search around the area of the Piggly Wiggly on North 10th Street.
There is a dog park in that area, along with several apartment buildings and places where businesses have dumpsters out back.
Laurie revealed to us that she is a mother of three grown sons and a grandmother of three, one of whom is the same age as Elijah.
She wants to make sure no stones are unturned and makes a plea to those in the area to help get Elijah home.
