The Superintendent of the Green Bay Area School District has resigned.
Claude Tiller Jr. was facing heavy scrutiny after he allegedly made negative comments about a subordinate while on an Atlanta radio show when he thought the microphones were off.
According to WFRV TV, a lawyer representing Tiller read a statement in which he voiced his displeasure that his comments “were interpreted in a manner that inadvertently caused offense with some in our school community.”
He also noted, “It’s important to emphasize that my comments were specifically directed toward the broader systemic issues within public education that contribute to ongoing challenges.”
Many people attended the school board meeting to defend Tiller and condemn the board for not backing him up.
District officials have noted that they have received a copy of the video of the show and will be releasing it on Wednesday.
