Representative Derrick Van Orden, representing western Wisconsin, has urged Governor Tony Evers to intervene in the impending closure of hospitals in the Chippewa Valley.
Congressman Van Orden, a Republican, implored the governor to utilize both state and federal resources to ensure continuity of medical services for residents relying on HSHS’ hospitals and Prevea’s clinics in the Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls areas.
The closures, announced last month, are scheduled to take effect by mid-April, raising concerns about reduced access to emergency care, diminished rural EMS services, and the loss of a key cancer center in the region.
